Choisir le dispositif de pointage le plus performant avec le throughput

Abstract : This article describes a design method used produce a decision algorithm, which aim is to help people with upper limbs motor-impairment, and occupational therapists, choosing a pointing device adapted to the impaired person's abilities. The design method is based on a set of existing metrics and models. How to use them to select the right person / pointing device pair? We used the “throughput” comparison criterion to compare Mouse, Trackball or Trackball, Touchpad in two experiments; the first one compares usual device versus novice device; the second experiment compares both devices are novices). The results of experiment 2 show that this criterion alone is not enough to choose the most appropriate device.
