Solution Processed Organic Photodiodes

Raphael Clerc

Résumé

Organic PhotoDiodes (OPD) are promising devices, for large area, low cost imagers on potentially flexible substrates. Inspired by organic solar cells, the performances of OPD have improved this last ten years, addressing very different applications, such as night vision or medical imaging for instance. The aim of this chapter will be first to draw an extensive state of the art of the technology and performances of this devices. Several particular issues such as materials, contacts, Bulk HeteroJunction and reliability will be reviewed. In a second session, the basic concepts regarding the operation of such device will be presented in more details, discussing in particular the role of contacts, mobility, defects on dark and illuminated currents.
