Eficacia de LABIOMEC® en el parasitismo en ovinos, terneros y equinos en condiciones de producción.

This work was carried out at the Experimental Station of Pastures and Forages "Indio Hatuey" with the objective of demonstrating the efficacy of LABIOMEC® regarding the internal parasitism of sheep, calves and horses, as well as ticks in calves. 40 sheep, 30 calves and 18 horses were used, and the dose recommended by the manufacturer (0,22 mg/kg LW) was applied to them. Before the application of the treatment, fecal samples were taken from all the animals and this was repeated the eleventh day after the application of the medicine. Fecal egg counts (FEC) were carried out in the three species. Determination of Dictyocaulus viviparus (Dv) was also performed in calves. The level of infestation by ticks in the calves was determined and tick counts were carried out in all the analyzed animals. At the beginning a mean FEC of 383,7; 782,7 and 2 163,8 eggs/g was obtained in the sheep, calves and horses, respectively. At the eleventh day of the treatment, the FEC obtained was: 5,0; 3,44 and 0, with a reduction of the fecal egg count of 98,5; 99,5 and 100% for the sheep, calves and horses, respectively. Significant differences (P≤0,01) were found when comparing the levels of infestation by gastrointestinal nematodes before and after the antiparasitic treatment. No larval stages of Dv were found in any of the sampled calves. Tick infestation in the calves was reduced from 65% to zero at the thirteenth day after the antiparasitic treatment. The preliminary results show the high efficacy of LABIOMEC® regarding the internal and external parasitism of the evaluated species.

Este trabajo se realizó en la Estación Experimental de Pastos y Forrajes “Indio Hatuey” con el objetivo de demostrar la eficacia de LABIOMEC® en el parasitismo interno de los ovinos, terneros y equinos, así como en las garrapatas en los terneros. Se emplearon 40 ovinos, 30 terneros y 18 equinos a los que se les aplicó la dosis recomendada por el fabricante (0,22 mg/kg de PV). Antes de la aplicación del tratamiento se tomaron muestras de heces fecales a todos los animales y se repitió al onceno día posterior a la aplicación del fármaco. Se realizaron conteos fecales de huevos (CFH) en las tres especies y en los terneros también se determinó Dictyocaulus viviparus (Dv). Se evaluó el grado de infestación por garrapatas en los bovinos y se realizaron conteos de estas en todos los animales analizados. Al inicio se obtuvo un CFH promedio de 383,7; 782,7 y 2 163,8 huevos/g en los ovinos, terneros y equinos, respectivamente. En el conteo correspondiente al onceno día posterior al tratamiento se obtuvo un CFH de 5,0; 3,44 y 0, con una reducción del conteo fecal de huevos de 98,5; 99,5 y 100% para los ovinos, bovinos y equinos, respectivamente. Se obtuvieron diferencias significativas (P≤0,01) al comparar los niveles de infestación por nemátodos gastrointestinales antes y después del tratamiento antiparasitario. No se encontraron estadios larvales de Dv en ninguno de los terneros muestreados. Se redujo la infestación por garrapatas en los bovinos de un 65% a cero al décimotercer día posterior al tratamiento antiparasitario. Los resultados preliminares muestran la elevada eficacia de LABIOMEC® en el parasitismo interno y externo de las especies evaluadas.
