PLURALITÉ DES CULTURES DANS L'OEUVRE DE MICHEL HOUELLEBECQ ET DE JERZY PILCH

Résumé
This article discusses the representation of cultural plurality in the novels of two major French and Polish contemporary fiction writers: Michel Houellebecq and Jerzy Pilch. The aim of this essay it to present a comparative analysis of the different conceptions represented by these two writers. The influence of historical, cultural and religious particularities on Pilch's and Houellebecq's views on multiculturalism is also considered. Furthermore, by comparing Jerzy Pilch's and Michel Houellebecq's work, we examine two different perspectives: the first one, that of a member of a Polish religious minority, i.e. a Protestant and the second one, that of a notorious racist and Islamophobe.
Que le pluralisme ethno-religieux fasse partie intégrante du paysage social de notre époque, en s'inscrivant profondément dans les structures culturelles et mentales de toute société postmoderne, est un fait irréfutable. Produit d'inter-action sociopolitique, l'écriture ne saurait certainement exister sans réagir aux évolutions du monde « extérieur ». Aussi cette problématique fait-elle l'objet d'innombrables ouvrages littéraires qui mettent au centre de leurs réflexions les clivages entre la minorité et l'ensemble de la société de façon à soulever des questions sur la possibilité d'une cohésion équilibrée entre ces deux groupes ou bien à construire un dialogue interculturel basé sur la compréhension et la reconnaissance des droits individuels. Révélateur incomparable de la réalité extra-littéraire, le roman contemporain s'est progressivement approprié cette thématique dont l'inscription au champ littéraire est proportionnelle à la dimension du débat public sur ce problème et dépend bien sûr de la spécificité de chaque pays.
Niniejszy artykuł omawia przedstawienia pluralizmu kulturowego w powiesciach dwóch waznych, na gruncie francuskim i polskim, pisarzy współczesnych: Michela Houellebecqua i Jerzego Pilcha. Celem pracy jest analiza komparatywna róznych koncepcji przedstawionych przez tych dwóch autorów. Rozpatrywany jest take wpływ historycznych, kulturowych i religijnych okolicznosci na ich poglady dotyczace wielokulturowosci. Ponadto, porównujac dzieła Jerzego Pilcha i Michela Houellebecqua, badamy dwie rózne perspektywy: członka polskiej mniejszosci religijnej, tj. protestanta oraz notorycznego rasisty i islamofoba.
