Modelling the dynamics of ruminal acidosis
Résumé
Sub-acute rumen acidosis (SARA) is one of the major nutritional disorders occurring in intensive ruminant production, particularly in high producing cows. Beyond experimentations, modelling is a way to progress in integration, updating and renewal of knowledge. Prediction of mean values of rumen pH is a well studied issue. In contrast, SARA and the dynamics of pH (Pitt & Pell, 1997) have been rarely modelled. The present target was to underline the major issues dealing with modelling kinetics of pH and episodes of SARA.
