Quality Physical Education: the point of view from Research on Intervention

The aim of this communication is to present a point of view on quality in physical education from the francophone field of research on intervention in sport. I represent the scientific association ARIS as President, with Yannick Lémonie (Vice-President). ARIS the Association for Research on Intervention in Sport. Sport means all bodily and sport practices, especially physical education. Four objectives guide this communication: 1) First, to briefly present ARIS Association; 2) Second, to show the importance to define standard in order to identify what could be a quality physical education; 3) Third, to show that research from ARIS don’t aim at determine standards exterior from practices. ARIS aims at contributing to build with professional quality standard from the realities lived by teachers and students ; 4) Fourth, to show the limits and the risk of a shift in meaning from quality criteria to standardize professional practices.
