Domain decomposition methods for nonlinear problems in structural mechanics

Résumé

We propose substructured formulations of nonlinear structure problems which can be interpreted as the nonlinear versions of classical FETI, BDD and FETI2LM solvers. Applying a Newton method leads to independent nonlinear systems per subdomains and linear interface system (as encountered in classical FETI or BDD). Thus part of the treatment of the nonlinearity is brought to the scale of the subdomains which can improve the scalability of the method. Contrary to the linear case, the nonlinear versions of FETI, BDD and FETI2LM are strongly different.
