Évaluer l’influence des pratiques d’enseignement du lire-écrire sur les apprentissages des élèves : enjeux et choix méthodologiques

Abstract : This article present an original methodology of research driven by the French Institute of Education (IFE) to estimate the influence of the teachers’practices practices on reading and writing (first year of primary school). The large-scale research (131 classes and 2507 pupils) is based on an observation of the teachers’ordinary practices and on an individual evaluation of pupils’progress. It aims at identifying the characteristics of the most beneficial educational practices to the low income children, whose first apprenticeships are the most dependent on the school intervention. Registered in paradigm of the Educational Effectiveness Research, the implemented ecological approach postulates that it is possible to compare the functioning of a range diversified practices of teaching and to learn of the variety so described.
