Enjeux et problématiques de conception d’un jeu sérieux pour la prise de décision

Abstract : This paper introduces design principles of serious games which goal is to understand the player/learner decision process. The analytical dimension is the core of gameplay questions: what are the mechanics able to make the player aware of his behavior as a decision-maker? This research questions the video game as a tool to develop the reflexivity and put in perspective the decision-making of the player. To analyze the mechanisms of decision-making, the overconfidence effect is considered as a lever to make understandable the behavior of the player of a training game. The main principles about a design method are discussed, to induce, control and measure the player’s overconfidence.
