Effects of high static magnetic field on crystal orientation and magnetic property of Bi-5wt.% Zn alloys
Résumé
Orientation behavior and magnetic property of Bi-5 wt.% Zn alloys were investigated under various magnetic fields. The c-axes of Zn crystals in eutectic BiZn structure, which have a maximum magnetic susceptibility, were completely parallel to the direction of 6 T high static magnetic field (HSMF). The alloys solidified at 0 T and 6 T showed a near-magnetic isotropic behavior whereas alloys solidified at 2 T and 4 T showed a magnetic anisotropic behavior. Magnetic properties at different directions of alloys were strictly dependent on the dimensions of Zn plates and value of angle between c-axis of Zn and a- or b-axis of Bi. These phenomena were explained by a mechanism known as rotation to orientation.
