Terminologie grammaticale... et lexicale

Abstract : This paper examines metalinguistic terminology used in France for the teaching of grammar in primary and secondary schools. We first analyse the terminology of current official ministerial programs for the French language. This leads us to argue for the simultaneous construction of both lexical and grammatical terminologies; this lexicalist perspective aims at a better structuring of the system of notions used in grammar teaching. We later show that specific resources can be elaborated in order to implement the notional interface between natural language lexicons and grammars, using the example of a linguistic ontology called “Gros Tas de Notions” ‘Big Heap of Notions’ (GTN).
