Résumé

Lignin, one of the main lignocellulosic biomass components, is co-produced in quite large quantities in pulp industry and only used as a low-value fuel. The valorization of lignin is highly desirable as it is the main bioresource for aromatics. We present here a study on the hydroconversion of a wheat-straw soda lignin over a NiMo/Al2O3 catalyst. Very high liquid yield was obtained with an excellent mass balance (98 wt%). A product recovery protocol was implemented to separate, quantify and deeply characterize the gases, liquids and solid fractions. In particular, two-dimensional GC was successfully used to deeply identify and quantify the different monomers of the liquid phase.
