Abstract : The purpose of this research is to contribute to an analysis of the socio-cultural aspects of injured body learning. The aim is to outline, through the presentation of some results drawn from a field survey, in a rehabilitation service, with 42 spinal cord injured individuals and 41 caregivers, the premises of an understanding of the process of semantization of the body at work in social exchanges. The study focused on patient-caregiver interactions, concerning the sensations experienced in the sensorially injured part of the body, allows the author to present some aspects of the negotiation of meanings, as well as its consequences on disability in ordinary life situations.
