Diamond, a new playground for studying electronic phase transitions ?
Résumé
The coincidence at low temperature of the doping-induced insulating-to-metal and normal-to-superconducting transition in diamond raises the question of a possible insulating-to-superconducting transition in this single crystal material. After reviewing the current state of the art of the first two electronic phase transitions, I shall describe how these might be affected by a reduction of the dimensionality and/or an increase of the disorder. The relevance of experimental results obtained along these lines with respect to the open question of the insulating to superconducting transition will be discussed.
