Enjeux épistémologiques de l'approche sociocognitive de l'acquisition du langage

Abstract : Empirical studies concerning joint attention lead Tomasello and his colleagues (Tomasello, 2004, 2008 ; Tomasello et al. 2005) to postulate a human universal cognitive infrastructure guiding social interaction that is biologically inherited. This infrastructure includes precocious mindreading and social engagement motivation and should explain cultural learning and linguistic skills development. The hypothesis of mindreading as a precursor of language acquisition, and its spectatorial view of interaction, is subject to criticism. Most importantly, the whole epistemological paradigm to which this theory belongs (including cognitivist view of language, mind and organism in interaction) is to be challenged.
