Some original analytical results on spur and helical gear tooth relief in relation to transmission error variations - Main and first order approximate profile modifications

Abstract : A perturbation method is presented which makes it possible to obtain approximate closed-form expressions for profile modifications that minimize the fluctuations of quasi-static transmission errors under load. It is shown that the proposed modifications are superior to linear relief in terms of transmission error and dynamic tooth loads.
