Du passé au présent : intégration de données topographiques extraites des cartes de Cassini

Abstract : The integration of information contained in old topographic maps into a historical topographic framework (spatio-temporal database) is a complex task due to the inherent imperfection of data. This article focuses on the georeferencing and data matching process of vector point data extracted from the black and white version of Cassini's maps with the vector topographic database of the French mapping agency's large scale framework (BD TOPO, version 2011). Each Cassini sheet is georeferenced using a unique and reversible transformation enabling provision of information such as the location of historical geographical objects, thus allowing to study the imprecision of these locations and the cartographic inconsistencies of Cassini's maps. Then an improvement of the data matching process following a multi-criteria analysis approach is proposed in order to partially automate the data matching parameterisation and to ease results analysis.
