Estimation of damping for highly damped structure with high modal densities
Résumé
In the frameworks of a correct identification of the characteristic coefficients of the physical-mathematical model describing the dynamics of continuous systems, this paper presents two material damping identification techniques at different frequency bands. At low frequency band, where the modes density allows to distinguishing one mode to another, the half-power bandwidth technique is performed. At higher frequencies, where this quality of the modes is lost, a statistical energy technique is used. These techniques are performed on a set of measurements made on a plate of polycarbonate.
