Finite Element Modeling of Soft Tissues for Pressure Ulcers Prevention

Résumé

This paper introduces the biomechanical models that were developed in the context of paraplegic pressure ulcer and diabetic foot ulcer preventions. A Finite Element model (FE) of the buttocks soft tissues and an FE model of the foot are described and used to predict high internal strains. Such strains are indeed known as being at the origin of pressure ulcers.
