Chemical reactivity of biocomposite glass-zoledronate
Résumé
One type of gem-bisphosphonate (Zoledronate: Z) has been introduced into bioactive glass (BG) to form a composite material for medical applications. For this purpose, a mixture of glass particles in zoledronate solution was stirred, frozen and lyophilized to obtain a BG/Z composite contained 0.1 wt% of zoledronate. XRD, FTIR, SEM and ICP-OES investigated the obtained composite. The FTIR analyses indicated the characteristic bands of good links between these two materials. The SEM studies showed the adhesion of zoledronate crystals to the surface of bioactive glass. The chemical reactivity of pure bioactive glass and of the composite was investigated by soaking the powdered samples in a simulated body fluid (SBF). ICP-OES method was used to evaluate the kinetic of bioactivity of these two biomaterials. The obtained results showed that the introduction of 0.1 wt% of zoledronate stimulated the bioactivity of bioactive glass.
