Synthesis of carbon-based catalysts functionalized through the grafting of carboxylic acids
Résumé
The transformation of hemicellulosic feedstock into chemicals such as furfural is of high interest. The current process uses H2SO4, as catalyst and gives 30-35% yield in furfural from hemicellulose. Current research to develop a cleaner and more efficient technology implies for example the use of organic solvent (DMSO) or biphasic systems which combine an aqueous phase and an extractive organic solvent . However, the use of water as reaction medium should be privileged and for that, the design of solid acid catalysts, active, selective and stable in water is essential.
