Peut-on prévoir les effets du changement climatique sur les littoraux coralliens ?

Abstract : Through a global and systemic approach, this paper aims to show that uncertainties are still so numerous today concerning the impacts of climate change on coral coasts that general predictions are of limited interest for management at local scale. Whether the serious state of many coral reefs, beaches and low-lying islands worldwide explains the predominance of pessimistic scenarios, it must be emphasized that the responses of the three components of the coastal system (ocean/atmosphere, coral ecosystem and associated sediment cells) are diverse and still badly understood. In this context, it seems important to pronounce wise diagnosis and to develop field observations at local and regional scales so as to support adaptive strategies.
