La Bibliotheca Chimica de Pierre Borel (1654)
Résumé
We discuss here this book of the prolific, encyclopaedic scholar Pierre Borel, (1) as the first bibliography of alchemy, (2) as a tool to learn more on the alchemical literature and (3) on the French alchemical circles of the years 1650. Finally, we draw a parallel between the works listed in this book and the alchemical Caprara manuscripts preserved in Bologna University Library.
On étudie ici, en la situant dans la production encyclopédique de Pierre Borel, cette première bibliographie de l'alchimie, avec ses mérites et ses nombreux défauts. On montre aussi ce qu'elle nous apprend sur la littérature alchimique, ainsi que sur les cercles alchimiques français des années 1650. On établit enfin un parallèle avec le fonds Caprara de manuscrits alchimiques conservés à la Biblioteca Universitaria de Bologne.
