The case study we analyse is located in France and is based in France. It suggests that the local opposition to wind power is not driven by the conflict between public and private interests, such as nimby analyses would frame it, but induced by a weak articulation between the public and the private dimensions of French wind power policy. This result allows us to discuss the role that French wind power policy plays as regards to the emergence and / or the resolution of local opposition to wind power.
