Comparison of piezoelectric switching shunt circuits for vibration suppression

Abstract : In past decade, there were several piezoelectric switching shunt techniques proposed for the vibration suppression. The piezoelectric switching shunt techniques were popular recently because they are the semi-active/passive control systems, which can be adaptive to the environmental variation and reduce the power requirement in the active control system. However, the performance of these shunt techniques are not compared in detail yet. The purpose of this paper is to review these switching shunt techniques and to compare the performance and point out their inherent problems.
