On state space description of fractional systems

This paper shows that the "state space description" often used in the literature for fractional system description exhibits serious drawbacks herein described. Due to these drawbacks and others misinterpretations, some results based on this description are questionable. To overcome this problem, alternative descriptions are proposed.
