Group index determination by pulse delay measurements and dispersion study in the zero dispersion region of fused silica

Abstract : We report on the measurement of the group index of fused silica in the zero dispersion region by pulse delay measurements. Our results differ from the calculated values of the group index from the literature by less than 1*10−5. The dispersion within the 1200-1340 nm range is also studied by means of auto and cross-correlation measurements. The results are in good agreement with the known dispersion of fused silica.
