Direct Power Control of Variable-speed Micro-Hydropower Plant Based on propeller turbine

Résumé

This paper presents a Direct Power Control of variable-speed micro hydropower plant (MHPP). This control is applied to a micro axial-flow hydraulic turbine rigidly coupled to permanent magnet synchronous generator. A backto-back two level Voltage Source Inverters are interfacing the generator to the grid. The main topic is to directly control the DC-bus power injected to the grid without speed control loop for robustness and simplicity. PI and resonant controllers are used to control the power electronics interface converters and DC-link voltage. The proposed control technique has been simulated under Matlab Simulink and the obtained results show the benefit of the proposed technique to simplify the whole control of the MHPP.
