Abstract : Natural heritage and public policy: Applying the "Grand Sites" scheme on Canigou This paper discusses how the concept of Natural Heritage is being used within the public scheme named "Grands Sites", for reshuffling both territories and people empowerment. canigou is a mountain whose history as a Grand Site exemplifies how the delicate relations between production and development evolve withe time, the dialectics at work even reframing the very meanings of heritage. the paper will then show how such dialectics fuelled the progressive making of a project embedded in a territory while, at the same time, refreshed both the story and presentation of Canigou
