Proust, l'étranger

Abstract : This volume offers a selection of papers, revised, presented during three seminars (in June and November 2007, then June 2008) focused on " Proust dans la recherche comparatiste ". Speakers from all over Europe had been invited to confront critical approaches, from two perspectives: the links between Proust and modernity; his relation to classics. The articles compare Proust and Dante, Pamuk, Cervantes, Ruskin, Woolf (on reading), Beckett (in a comparative close-reading), Calvino, Octavio Paz and South American literature, Beatniks, and (German, French, English and American) philosophers. Besides the introduction (written with Karen Haddad: "Proust, visages étrangers. Des cercles de l'Enfer aux eaux du Bosphore"), the volume contains my article "Proust et la philosophie : lectures croisées (françaises, allemandes, anglophones) et réflexions génériques", pp. 129-146.
