Lattice Vector Quantization for the Analysis of Molecular Data.

Abstract : We introduce a novel simplification scheme of molecular data using Tree-Structured Lattice Vector Quantization (TSLVQ). The method, based on the embedding of truncated lattices, permits also hierarchical description of the 3-D volume through a tree-structure. We apply TSLVQ to simplify the electron densities maps of three thrombin inhibitors (MQPA, NAPAP, 4-TAPAP).
