Queueing analysis of the production of sterile medical devices by means of a hybrid model

Abstract : The sterilization of medical devices in hospitals takes an important place in the fight against infection. We present a hybrid model of a sterilization service. This hybrid model is a discrete time queueing model were some nodes are modeled by simulation. Our aim is to propose a rapid method to obtain performance figures of sterilization services. We compare analytical results of a specic case to simulation results from an earlier work. The analytical model is well suited to obtain some performance figures of sterilization processes.
