A procedure to ease usage of VR technology for enhancing Product Lifecycle Management vision

Cédric Masclet

Résumé

This paper proposes an environment to ease the integration of Virtual reality and/or Augmented Reality into PLM applications. The use of the newest technologies remains a hard process in the real world applications since every scenario leads to a new specific development. We propose to integrate the final user who is usually a design or manufacturing expert in the development of the virtual environment. The development of the virtual /augmented reality application becomes a User Centered Design where the Virtual Reality expert must collaborate with the PLM expert to build an appropriate application. It is then a matter of translation of the expert knowledge and know-how into visualization and interaction applications. The concepts of Model Driven Engineering are used to fix this translation.
