Master/slave algorithm for contact between deformable bodies and axial symmetries - application to 3D metal forging

Résumé

In the frame of metal forming applications, the boundary conditions for axial symmetries and contact between deformable bodies are handle in the same way. Both problems require a master/slave algorithm. Both require formulations that satisfy stability and convergence conditions, as well as contact patch test. The method is implemented into 3D finite element software, FORGE3(R), in the frame of large deformations of forging applications. The extension of the parallel resolution method by mesh partitioning is presented and applications to actual 3D problems.
