Traffic flow control on multi-tunneled mobile router

Résumé

Public transportation users are more and more interested in being able to connect to the Internet and make their transportation time pleasant (browsing the web), efficient (consulting emails on the way to work) or even opportune (assisting a work session although stuck in a traffic jam). Modern public transport companies are already providing such services for their waiting time in airports and train stations. The development of IPv6, the growing success of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) equipments and mobile network systems will soon take us along to the next step. In this evolution, multi-interfaced Mobile Routers (MR) will play a major role. Furthermore multihoming provides new possibilities in a routing process and traffic management. The advantages of these features have already been shown in previous works but there are still much to do. One of these works was the Ubique framework which was initially developed for multihomed mobile stations. Our goal here is, first, to complete the ongoing framework adaptation to mobile router architecture. We will afterward implement and integrate the ability for the router to efficiently exploit dynamic load balancing and load sharing, using all available NEtwork MObility (NEMO) tunnels toward the Home Agent (HA)
