On the level-set evolution of thin electromagnetic screens in the wave propagation regime

Résumé

In this contribution, we describe and illustrate via numerical experiments an evolution algorithm which is involving level-sets in order to retrieve the shape of thin (yet not infinitely thin) penetrable, arc-like inclusions (those might be seen as cracks or screens), the electric permittivities or magnetic permeabilities of which differ from the ones of the embedding space, henceforth assumed to be homogeneous. The work so far on this topic is led by us on an ideal two-dimensional scalar scattering case --mostly proof of concept is sought after as recognized here. Refer also to "Inverse Scattering from Two-Dimensional Thin Inclusions and Cracks,'' Thèse de doctorat, Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, Feb. 2009 (available at http://paristech.bib.rilk.com/4834/) wherein a number of imaging methodologies for both penetrable and impenetrable arc-like inclusions are proposed, including the one considered today.
