Le premier manuel d'apprentissage de la lecture de Moïse Fresco, auteur et éditeur de livres scolaires en français à Istanbul (fin du XIXe-milieu du XXe siècle

Abstract : The current study is an analysis of Moïse Fresco's (1859-1912) first reading textbook. In Istanbul, Moïse Fresco was the author and publisher of numerous textbooks written entirely in French for the Alliance Israélite Universelle. In this textbook especially, used long after the author's death, many syntagms chosen to develop the syllabary referred to the representations of middle and upper middle class city dwellers' daily life in Istanbul or in other large cities of the Oriental Mediterranean basin. In comparison, at the same time, in France, the reading textbooks referred to the representations of a poorer and rural daily life.
