Phylogenetic analysis of the pathogenic anaerobe Clostridium perfringens using the 16S rRNA nucleotide sequence.

Abstract : Clostridium perfringens, the first pathogenic clostridium examined, was placed in the nonmycoplasma subgroup of the low-dG+dC-content gram-positive cluster on the basis of the results of a phylogenetic analysis in which we used 16S rRNA comparisons. The closest relative that has been identified to date is Clostridium pasteurianum.
