Development of Far-Infrared-Transmitting Te Based Glasses Suitable for Carbon Dioxide Detection and Space Optics

Résumé

Far-infrared transmitting telluride glasses are synthesized by stabilizing the Ge-Te amorphous covalent network with addition of iodine. These new glasses show good resistance toward crystallization and are therefore compatible for designing complex IR optics for detection of CO2 (see figure). Moulded optics can be prepared from these glasses without loss in optical properties.
