Mobility architectures for DVB-S/RCS satellite networks

Abstract : In order to offer an appropriate support to the variety of current and future multimedia applications, broadband satellite systems need to support mobility. Mobility is currently an important issue, leading researchers to propose various kinds of solutions. Many proposals already appeared in terrestrial networks, but mobility in a DVB-RCS satellite access network implies new constraints. Due to the delay of one satellite hop for instance, the hand over time seems to be too long for current multimedia distributed applications.
