Localization of structural zones producing hypersensitive behavior

Résumé

In this article is presented a new method which aim is to provide a tool that would be able to detect structural zones producing hypersensitive behavior, that is to say when a small variation of a parameter value brings a large variation on response. This method is based on the concept of a posteriori error estimation and is very fast compared with Monte Carlo simulation which could be able to give similar results. The basic idea is to solve the problem only once, with nominal parameters. The solution field is used to evaluate on several parts of the structure an a posteriori indicator, which is based on the verification of motion equations and boundary conditions. Uncertain parameters are taken into account in the expression of indicator, which provide a measurement of the quality of verification of equations characterizing a slightly different structure regarding solution field of nominal structure. If the zone in which the indicator is evaluated is sensitive, the calculated value is large, on the other hand if the area is insensitive, the indicator is close to zero. After a short description of the method, an application using hypersensitive plates network is presented.
