Exposer les toxicomanes : reconstitution d'une exposition photographique itinérante sur les usagers de drogues, de Berne à Zurich

Abstract : This article deals with an exhibition of Michael von Graffenried (photographer) talking about drug consumers. "Rosanna, Astrid, Peter and the others” is the title of this exhibition stimulated by people working in community health. The aim was to make the public opinion aware of risks linked with drugs. In 2005, black and white panoramic portraits of people consuming drugs have been disseminated in different cities in Switzerland, from Berne to Zurich, on big advertising billboards, before being introduced in the Swiss national museum and in the Platzspitz park of Zurich (former open air drug scene of Zurich). We have decided to go back to the production and public reception of this itinerant exhibition. The idea was to analyse different registers of interpretation and values associated, depending of the places the exhibition took place. Observing the process, beyond the media coverage dimension, will help to better understand its memorial value, very different from the one initially expected.
