L'inscription du Mur de l'Atlantique dans l'articulation Construction-déconstruction

Abstract : The remains of the Atlantic Wall inevitably raise questions pointing to various areas such as military history, architecture and of course the heritage question. Here, according to the given theme "construction-deconstruction", it will be necessary first of all to be interested in the simple definition of this articulation. The linguistic interest will make it possible to reveal that the latter connotes the notion of well-defined cycles, and this, according to whether one places oneself from the very specific point of view of the deconstruction or the destruction. The great architectural theories emitted between the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century will shed light on these concepts, which in fact directly affect the mutation of a patrimonial consciousness that can be transcribed through the German remains. How were they built? By who? On the contrary, what are the facts that led to the destruction of the bunkers? For what purposes? How can such a military architecture be deconstructed? Did it have an ephemeral role? Why these ahistorical choices, erasing the witnesses of the greatest struggles of the twentieth century? Can we emit the idea of a backup of these buildings? Or a cultural reconversion through museums? In sum, it will be necessary to distinguish in our talking the mutation that this patrimonial consciousness and its purpose undertakes through a controversial military architecture by its construction but also by its annihilation.
