Résumé
This work is interested in the way artistic creation, at the crossroads with sociological, documentary and botanical research, seizes the relationships between the migration of plants and people to reflect on the links of people with places. In the research-creation in visual and media arts presented here, the plants of migrants are put into perspective with memory objects (Turgeon, 2007), thus becoming memory plants. Transported from one country to another, then replanted, uprooted plants are mnemonic supports that refresh memory and prolong the gestures of the past. The migrants’ testimonies and the stories of their plants are narrated in performative and installation art works, where (un)weaving and embroidery play a central role in the materialisation of links with places.
Ce travail s’intéresse à la façon dont la création artistique, au croisement avec des recherches sociologiques, documentaires et botaniques, se saisit des relations entre la migration des végétaux et des personnes pour réfléchir aux liens des personnes avec des lieux. Dans la recherche-création en arts visuels et médiatiques présentée ici, les plantes des migrants sont mises en perspective avec des objets mémoire (Turgeon, 2007) devenant ainsi des plantes mémoire. Transportées d’un pays à l’autre, puis replantées, les plantes déracinées sont des supports mnémoniques qui réactualisent la mémoire et prolongent les gestes du passé. Les témoignages des migrants et les histoires de leurs plantes sont mis en récits dans des œuvres performatives et installatives, où le (dé)tissage et la broderie jouent un rôle central dans la matérialisation des liens avec des lieux.
