This article presents a set of conventional approaches to the modeling of dysfunctioning of a process in the context of maintenance activities. It recalls advantages and disadvantages in use. The normative framework of maintenance, the priorities of the long-term maintenance, the content of the maintenance function will also be presented. This paper present a state of the art of usual maintenance methods. We give hints about the use of these methods for new products for e-maintenance.
