We investigate cortical networks involved in the recovery process after tongue surgery, also called glossectomy. The preliminary results obtained from four patients show for the first post surgery condition (1 month after surgery) as compared to pre-surgery condition: * In tongue movement: less activation in right primary motor cortex; more activation in anterior cingulate cortex (BA32) and supplementary motor area (SMA, BA6). * In neutral vowels: more activation in SMA. * In neutral syllables: more activation in SMA, right primary somatosensory cortex (BA1), right primary motor cortex (BA4), right superior parietal lobule (SPL)/inferior parietal sulcus (IPS). * In complex syllables: more activation in SMA (BA6), primary somatosensory cortex (BA1, BA3), primary motor cortex (BA4), bilateral SPL/IPS . With a small group of 4 subjects, changes in cerebellum and insula activations are not observed. Subjects recruitment is still in progress.
