We find that Coulomb focusing persists even when theCoulomb field of the ion is barely noticeable compared with the laser field. We focus on the consequences ofCoulomb focusing for trajectories that maximize the energy exchange upon recollision and thus determine thehigh-harmonic cutoff. Delayed recollisions proliferate in the strong-field regime and bring back energy slightlyabove the 3.17Up high-harmonic cutoff (where Up is the pondermotive energy), in stark contradiction with thestrong-field approximation. We investigate the nonlinear-dynamical phase-space structures which underlie thisdynamics. It is found that the energetic delayed recollisions are organized by a reduced number of periodic orbitsand their invariant manifolds. %G English %2 https://hal.science/hal-01159293/document %2 https://hal.science/hal-01159293/file/main.pdf %L hal-01159293 %U https://hal.science/hal-01159293 %~ UNIV-TLN %~ CNRS %~ UNIV-AMU %~ CPT %~ OPENAIRE %~ TDS-MACS %~ CPT-SYST-DYNA %~ TEST3-HALCNRS
