The Role of Cyprus in the Neo-Assyrian Economic System: Analysis of the Textual Evidence
Résumé
The Neo‐Assyrian domination on Cyprus is exclusively documented by inscriptions in Akkadian, ranging chronologically from the end of the 8th c. BCE to the mid 7th c. BCE. Based on this evidence, the paper tries to analyse the insertion of Cyprus into the Neo‐Assyrian economic network involving the subjects of the empire into a wide goods exchange system having Assyria as its core.
