On the dynamic modelling of fibrous composites

The aim of this contribution is to propose a new simplified approach to the wave propagation problem in periodic fibre-reinforced composites. The analysis is based on the concepts of the refined macrodynamics, [6, 7]. The main advantage of the proposed approach is that it yields simple analytical formulae for spectral lines and hence avoids troublesome calculations connected with numerical solutions to the boundary-value problems on the unit cell. The investigations are restricted to the linear-clastic composites with perfect bonding between constituents.
