This paper deals with physical modelling and more particularly with the particle-based modelling technique used by the Cordis-Anima modeller-simulator designed by the ACROE. Our goal is to show that is possible to model a rigid articulate system with a complex geometry thanks to this technique. We chose an example of this category that seemed to us to be the most significant of this problem : a clockwork (NCL94_Conf_WS-Eurographics.pdf). This simulation of a clockwork was realized for " Tableau II - Horloge " of the visual and musical artwork ESQUISSES. The first performance of ESQUISSES was held August 31st 1993 in Chambéry, France (Acroe93_Art-Programme_ESQUISSES.pdf).
